PechaKucha

Pecha Kucha means chit-chat in Japanese. On this site, you prepare 20 presentation slides and talk about each for 20 seconds. Through this format, the presentations are kept on point ad brief, and thanks to it, the students can be helped with their public speaking skills and speaking in general.

They may talk about an image, and it is mostly improvised or planned, so this may help students in overcoming their public speaking nerves. Here is an example video of a learner doing her Pecha Kucha.

The activities can include a recap of what they have learned throughout the semester, they can come up with their own topic or even tell a story, a trip that they might like to take, a bucket list, etc. And here is a link on how to create your own presentation.

Overall, it can be beneficial in-class use as it is efficient in time management and also it encourages students to talk about the things they are interested in, which may pave the way for improved speaking skills.
